Want to learn about Palestine but don’t know where or how to start? We’re forming a Palestine 101 book club and study group! Whether you’ve just recently started keeping up with the news or been an activist for years, this will be a non-judgmental space dedicated to learning about Palestine, its history, and related liberation struggles. No one trying to learn will be turned away even if they “don’t know enough” or don’t use/know the right vocabulary.
We will be starting January 15, 2026 and meeting in-person bi-weekly on Memorial universities campus. Our first reading will be “The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine: A History of Settler Colonialism and Resistance, 1917–2017” by Rashid Khalidi. The book is available for free through Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries (physical, eBook, and audiobook options), a free electronic book copy will be provided, and physical copies will be available for purchase locally through Downtown Comics.
Fill the form (link in our bio) to book your spot, a poll will go out closer to the new year to pin down a meeting time that works best for participants. Right now there are two options:
Thursday 7-8pm (starting Jan 15, first meeting Jan 29th)
Sunday 2-3pm (starting Jan 18, first meeting Feb 1st)
If there are enough numbers we will have two groups.
