Grief Circle for Palestine & Lebanon by SJC-NL
Everyday under colonial, racial, capitalism, we witness unspeakable horrors. Over the past 14 months we've witnessed an onslaught of horror & brutality as the state of Israel (with the support of many ‘western democracies’ including so-called Canada) escalates its genocide on Palestinians. It's necessary to hold our grief in collectivity.
You are invited to join SJC-NL for a Grief Circle for Palestine and Lebanon.
This is an invitation to join a safe space where we can honour and hold our grief in community during this ongoing genocide.
All are welcome.

Elena is a Work That Reconnects (WTR) Network trained facilitator. Her approach is trauma-informed and IFS (Internal Family Systems) informed. And she is interested in decolonial frameworks towards individual/collective care

No Pride in Genocide - talk by Gary Kinsman
We are THRILLED to be welcoming one of Canada’s foremost queer activists and scholars to St. John’s next week for two very special events! On Wednesday, October 16 from 6-8pm at Eastern Edge Gallery, join us for:
NO PRIDE IN GENOCIDE!
Recently “No Pride in Genocide” has been raised by queer and trans activists against the complicity of many larger Pride Committees and mainstream LGBT+ groups in support of the active genocide of the Palestinian people by the Israeli state. Many Pride events across the country became the sites of important struggles with the theme of “No Pride in Genocide!” This is also linked back to organizing in 2021 with the theme of No Pride in Genocide against the genocide of Indigenous people on Turtle Island and settler colonialism. Drawing on the recently released Third Edition of the Regulation of Desire, activist and author Gary Kinsman will link queer and trans struggles against genocide and settler colonialism from Turtle Island to Palestine. Gary Kinsman (he/they) has been involved in Queers4Palestine-Toronto, Abolitionist Pride, the No Pride in Policing Coalition and is a supporter of the Coalition Against Pinkwashing. He/they are the author of The Regulation of Desire: Queer Histories, Queer Struggles and the co-author of The Canadian War on Queers: National Security as Sexual Regulation.
This free event sponsored and supported by Queers For Palestine (St. John’s), Eastern Edge Gallery, St. John’s Pride, Palestine Action YYT, MUN Dept. of Gender Studies, and Downtown Comics!

Screen Printing Fundraiser
Want this sunbird design printed on your tee or tote? Join Queers for Palestine at St. Michael’s printshop on Saturday, September 7th, from 3:30-5pm! Cost is by donation, pay what you can! Bring your own tee, tote, or whatever you’ve got lying around the house.
This design is full of meaning, so let’s break it down:
The Palestine sunbird is a symbol of resistance and the freedom Palestinians, the same as all people, deserve. The sunbird flies freely through the skies over olive trees and orange groves from Gaza to Haifa, reminding us that liberation will come.
The Palestinian tatreez pattern pictured here, called “Water and Seeds”, comes from Gaza. Tatreez is traditional Palestinian embroidery with every stitch archiving memories and culture.
Lastly, the poppy, a flower native to Palestine, represents the martyrs taken over decades of violent colonial occupation, as well as the connection all Palestinians have to their land.
These symbols come together in this beautiful design 🇵🇸
Chapters/Indigo Protest
A group of activists will be protesting in front of Chapters on Kenmount Rd to bring attention to the CEO’s (Heather Reisman) funding of lone IDF soldiers via the HESEG Foundation.
